The boys cross country team celebrated HOMECOMING in grand style this week with a pair of wins over Waterford Kettering and  crosstown rival South Lyon East.

The Lakes Valley Cross Country Conference utilizes a double dual meet format.  On Tuesday, the contests were South Lyon versus Kettering, South Lyon versus East, and East versus Kettering.

Both South Lyon and East enjoyed easy wins over Kettering. Kettering did not have the necessary 5 men on their team to complete the score.

The real focus of the meet was the contest between the Lions and the Cougars.  The Lions competed shorthanded because illness sidelined two of the Lion top seven runners, but the Lions prevailed nonetheless.

Steven Bosworth and Reiner Kandt finished first and second ahead of East's Brendon Kelly.

Miles Albert, Avian Valencia-Moore, JP Mavel, and Alex Mueller then took the next four places to cement the win, finishing ahead of East's Michael Tippy and Jacob Mack.

Logan Duncan completed the Lion's top seven, finishing ahead of East fourth runner and the top Kettering runner.

Ethan Showek, Logan Edwards, Antonio Sobczak, and Shane Jowett all finished ahead of East's fifth and final score earner.

Gavin Howell, in his first race of the year, Jon Fletcher, and Josh Wasmund finished ahead of East's seven man.

The final score was South Lyon 18 and South Lyon EAST 43.

Many of the Lions earned course best performances including Alex Bransch, Logan Duncan, Logan Edwards, Ashton Kandt, Brady Little, Tommy Lykins, Ian Maltarich, JP Mavel, Christian Mueller, Tommy Nielson, Matthew Richard, Antonio Sobczak, Avian Valencia-Moore, Josh Wasmund, and Owen Zischke.

Ian Scheels had the biggest course best, running a whopping 4:14 faster than his previous best.
